Biography

TOMILIN, Herschel Ray “Crazy Ray”; age 76 of Linden, TN departed this life on December 13, 2009 in Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Mr. Tomlin was born June 10, 1933 in Williamson County, the oldest of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Margie Brown Tomlin, brother, Thomas Tomlin of Columbia, TN; daughter, Donna Cook of Columbia, TN; granddaughter, Jennifer Boshers of Columbia, TN and Nicholas Hilburn of Hohenwald, TN.

He is survived by wife: Faye “Crazy Faye” Tomlin of Linden; a son, his pride and joy, Wayne (Linda Cotton) Tomlin of Mt. Pleasant, TN; Daughters, he adored, Brenda Boshers, and fiance Dana Ellis, Tina (Bradley) Kilpatrick of Linden, TN; Lee Ann (Johnny) Hilburn of Hohenwald, TN; Grandchildren: Dewaena “Tutorbilt” Lee, Amanda (A.J.) Walls, Jessica Boshers, Kim Mills, Heather Brewer, Chris Cotten, Jessica McKee, Gary Keith Ola II, Dalton Hilburn, Timothy Hilburn, Matthew Hilburn, Kayle Anna-Jeanene Kilpatrick, one Kilpatrick baby on the way. Great-grandchildren: Wayne Brewer, Haley Brewer, Cortney Moore, Ashley Hill, Robert Hill, Josh Lee, Gracey McKee, Great Great Grandchild: Hayden Bolton. Brothers: “Bicycle” Joe (Barbara) Tomlin of Leoma, TN; “Rooster” Gene (Zada) Tomlin of Lewisburg, TN; Sisters: Mildred (Fred) Dalton of Lewisburg, TN Ann (Gene) Fitzgerald of Williamsport, TN. Many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He attended Beechland School, Nashville Auction School, and Union University. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of Brown’s Chapel Church of Christ in Maury County . He was a retired farmer, business man, Consolidated Aluminum retiree, and retired auctioneer. He was a race car driver, loved to hunt, fish, play cards, and watch #24 race.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Linden. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of McDonald Funeral Home in Linden with Bro. Rick Cottrell officiating. Interment will follow services in the Hargrove Cemetery near Columbia, TN.
